Kuppa and McMorrow on passage of School Aid budget

LANSING — And updated and expanded version of the School Aid budget passed the Michigan Legislature today. In response, state Rep. Padma Kuppa (D-Troy) and state Sen. Mallory McMorrow (D-Royal Oak), who both voted against the budget, issued the following statement:

“For the students, families, educators and administrators of our districts, this budget did not adequately address the funding and resources consistently identified by nonpartisan research as necessary to prepare our state for future success. Despite Michigan ranking dead-last nationwide for education funding growth, we continue to ask our schools and teachers to do more with less, as our budgets barely keep pace with inflation. We were proud to stand together to vote against the budget presented today, and remain committed to helping deliver the resources our students need to access the quality education they deserve.”
